Hard and Soft Light

Soft light is light that has tendencies to 'wrap' around an object, it casts diffused shadows with soft edges.

This is an example of Soft Light

Hard light is a light whose shadow has 'harder' edges with less transition between illumination and shadow.  

This is an example of Hard Light

This is my own example of soft light, you can see this as the shadows being cast around Kit have soft edges and the light appears to 'wrap' around him.

This is my example of hard light,you can see this as the shadows appear much harder and harsher.
